#Watch dead poets society stream movie
The boys spend the movie learning to think and challenge and learn from the world (and the best teacher ever). Poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for" - Keating says this when he is just teaching the class what poetry truly is. "We don't read and write poetry because it's cute, we read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion.
The very heart of this movie is friendship and passion, passion to do what you love and be who you want to be. I love this movie, I love the plot, I love the characters. In my view, it is a poignant and timeless masterpiece that deserves so much more credit for the story it tells. No review could fit so perfectly into words how incredible this movie is. It's not even worth going into lots of detail about all the pros and cons (of which are there few) of this movie. We’ve all been to school, so it is the pupils in the film that we relate most to. But I’d say his character was only a focal point for the boys in the school, not for the viewer. I suppose Williams was the only known actor in the movie at time of its release and so his performance is highlighted. He carries the viewer through the film and becomes the reason for its climax. Neil is clearly the focus for the audience and the one boy in the class who is affected most by their new teacher. If any performance had to be singled out for praise I would put Robert Sean Leonard’s portrayal of Neil at the front. There are many aspects of this film that make it worth seeing and all play their part just enough and without blatancy. It’s hard to say what it is that makes it such a good film but most people focus on Robin William’s performance as the main contributor. Nobody will watch this film and be unaffected. We all have our own perspectives on what life is and how we should prepare the young for what is to come. What is the purpose of education? How much freedom should pupils be allowed? Is there a threshold for discipline? The answers are not given, but left for us to ponder. The film explores questions about how we raise our kids. I recently watched it for a second time and was given a certain reminder as to why it’s a film worth seeing. Over the years I forgot the details of the story but always remembered it as a film worth seeing. I saw this film when it first came out and always remembered it being a good film.
